These organizations, academic centers, publications and think tanks are leaders
among the many groups that track developments in business ethics. They are great
resources for the latest developments in corporate ethics policies and for learning
how other businesses and professions manage their ethics issues.
Center for the Study of Ethics in the Professions

Established in 1976, the Center for the Study of Ethics in the Professions at
the Illinois Institute of Technology promotes research and teaching on practical
moral problems. It is known for its work on ethics in engineering and science
and in related areas of business. Its Web site provides access to more than 850
ethics codes of professional societies, corporations, government and academic
institutions.
CRO Magazine

This publication for corporate responsibility officers (CROs) now incorporates Business
Ethics magazine, a former stand-alone periodical that covers developments
in corporate ethics. In addition to business ethics, CRO regularly writes about
communications, compliance, governance and social responsibility.
Ethics Resource Center (ERC)

This group focuses on organizational ethics. It conducts research, measures compliance of individual organizations, and develops white papers and educational resources based on its findings. ERC also sponsors character development programs for educational institutions, and the ERC Fellows Program for corporate ethics officers and academics who engage in practical research that addresses emerging issues in corporations.
Business for Social Responsibility

Business for Social Responsibility (BSR) is a global organization that helps
member companies achieve success in ways that respect ethical values, people,
communities, and the environment. BSR provides information, tools, training,
and advisory services to make corporate social responsibility an integral part
of business operations and strategies. As a nonprofit organization, BSR promotes
cross-sector collaboration and contributes to global efforts to advance the field
of corporate social responsibility.

This UK-based group's charter is to raise public awareness of the importance of doing business ethically. Its research projects include a study that analyzed the relationship between ethics and financial performance of companies, noting that ethical business practices are good for a company's bottom line.
Markkula Center for Applied Ethics

The Markkula Center for Applied Ethics at the Santa Clara University is one of
the preeminent centers for research and dialogue on ethical issues in American
life. The center's focus areas are business, healthcare and biotechnology, character
education, government, global leadership, technology and emerging issues in ethics.
Articles, cases, briefings and dialogue in all fields of applied ethics are
available on its Web site.

Knowledge @ Wharton's section on business ethics contains many articles related
